How many of you are feeling super exuberant as we start this new week, because last week, on Tuesday, thanks to Pharrell, for the first time since January when they received the coveted and most prestigious award, the RECORD OF THE YEAR, at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards (January 26, 2014)..
(((Dang, writing all that and making sure I said and spelled everything correct was a chore)))
Anyway.. I'm feeling super exuberant as we start the new week because last Tuesday we got some new..
DAFT PUNK!!!
I'm feel so exuberant right now that I want to place a journal here on dA.
I want to say that I love it here on dA because I greatly love art. I've loved art since I was a wee little kid. When I was a child I was often complemented on my drawings. But honestly, I don't think I'm very talented. If you look at my gallery here on dA I'm sure you will no doubt agree. I think my stuff is actually below the value of dog s**t.
However.. Here on dA.. OMG!!!! I can find endless deviations of awesome art! And here on dA, we can communicate and actually meet the artists.
So.. I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the numerous artists who have been entertaining us for years by showing us their stuff here on this online community.
And.. May I feature but a tiny few deviations to show why I like dA so much..
I am more than elated to report that.. On Friday May 13th 2011.. Uganda’s anti-homosexuality bill was shelved!
After receiving a cacophony of criticism from across the globe, Uganda’s Parliament let the time expire on a contentious anti-homosexuality bill that had threatened this East African country’s international standing.
Under intense global pressure, the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament blocked the anti-gay bill from coming to a vote in the emergency session on Friday. Now Parliament has closed and the bill has been wiped from the books. It's not necessarily gone for good, but to be considered again, it would have to be reintroduced as a new bill and go through the whole Parliamentary process -- which took 18 months last time.
Together.. We've won a major fight for equality and justice!!! Over 1.6 million of us signed the petition opposing the anti-gay bill, tens of thousands of us called our heads of state, and we helped make the attack on gay rights in Uganda a major international news story -- and it worked.
I want to thank each and everyone who responded to our alert, and signed the petition. Our global outcry made it clear that the world is watching, and demanding that human rights be respected everywhere. We can join our friends in Uganda in celebration of a victory that could save thousands of lives.
